A friend of mine grew his LinkedIn audience from scratch to nearly half a million people.

No hacks. No shortcuts. Just a repeatable system.

After meeting him for a call, I implemented nearly everything he shared, and my analytics are up. (shocker)

this is a screenshot from my Taplio account - great tool for LinkedIn growth/management

But I’m not here to gatekeep.

So here are my notes from the call:

LinkedIn Growth Playbook

1. Posting Strategy

  • 1 post per day (max of 2). Quality > quantity.

  • Start with Monday–Friday. Once you build momentum, test weekends.

  • Consistency beats intensity. One year of showing up daily compounds into years of growth.

2. Content Types That Win

Rotate between these 3 buckets to keep content fresh:

  1. Personal story + photo (example here)
→ People connect with people. Share your journey, struggles, wins.

  2. Helpful niche insight + graphic (example here)
→ Teach what you know. Turn expertise into simple frameworks.

  3. Highly shareable image with POV/commentary (example here)
→ Add your unique perspective to trending topics, memes, or charts.

Rule of thumb: Every post should either inspire, educate, or provoke thought.

3. Engagement Playbook

  • Comment on 10–20 posts/day (in your niche). Don’t just post—participate.

  • Reply to every single comment on your posts. This builds community and signals LinkedIn your content is worth promoting.

  • Ask for reposts. If people find your post helpful, encourage them to share.

  • Always include a follow CTA at the end of posts (“Follow me for more on X”). It feels cringe, but it works.

I’m really trying to double down here.

You can see my LinkedIn comments here for reference.

4. Formatting & Copy

  • Mix long-form copy + image. Don’t rely on text-only.

  • Hooks matter most. You only get 3 lines before “see more.” Spend time on them. Use ChatGPT if you need help with your hooks - it’s surprisingly good if you give it enough context.

  • Use broetry formatting:
    → Short lines
    → Spaced out sentences
    → Easy to skim

  • LinkedIn loves:
    → Infographics
    → Charts
    → Quote cards
    → Photos of real people

5. Video Guidelines

  • Horizontal > vertical for polished content.

  • Raw vertical (iPhone/UGC style) works when it feels authentic.

  • Podcast clips: better horizontal — vertical doesn’t perform as well here.

6. What NOT To Do

  • No reposts. They count like a regular post, but waste your daily slot.

  • Don’t chase virality. Focus on consistency.

  • Don’t give up too soon—LinkedIn content has a long shelf life (weeks vs hours).

7. The Core Principle

This playbook isn’t sexy.

It’s not about “hacks” or overnight growth.

The people who win are the ones who:

  • Post daily for years

  • Add real value every time

  • Engage with others consistently

Consistency compounds.

That’s how you turn 0 into 450k.

Hope you found this helpful!

Owning your distribution is super important if you want to build your internet empire.

It will help with hiring, sales, and partnerships.

Below you’ll find a story about someone who proved this to be true.

Chris Bakke sold his startup to Elon Musk.

He shares the entire story (and how distribution played a key role).

Cheers,
