Since quitting my full-time gig, starting a niche consulting biz, and launching Internet Empires, 2 recurring questions have flooded my DMs:
1) “Can I hire you?”
2) “Can you promote my product?”
Response to #1 – I am not currently taking new clients, but click here to be notified when I am.
Response to #2 – I think random one-off ads are super annoying. Especially when creators are shilling a different product every week. Or even worse — when I know that the creator doesn’t believe in the product themself. I know it’s the go-to business model, but I think there’s a better way (that benefits both the creator & the business in the long run).
Solution: Long-term Distribution Partnerships
The rest of this post will outline exactly what I mean.
Feel free to copy my model or submit an inquiry if you want to work with me to grow your business.
Current model
Ok, let’s look at the facts.
Creator businesses are just like any other business — they have overhead. This includes team members, production costs, ad expenses, tools, software subscriptions, and more — plus, their own personal expenses.
TLDR: Creators gotta eat & pay the bills too.
And since the current ad model is the main revenue driver for most creators, they are often forced to take whatever they can get.
Leading to…
Creators promoting a different product every week
Creators promoting multiple products at once
A lack of long-term brand loyalty between most creators & their ad partners
A lack of cohesiveness across different platforms (social, newsletter, podcast)
A lack of trust & engagement between creators and their audience
Only a few people can pull off this model, and it’s usually because they’re one of the best in their category (or have leverage that others don’t — like reach, engagement, trust, tenure in their niche)
That’s why I built my own model (with inspiration from others who are doing it right).
My Model:
Only long-term partnerships (no one-off ads)
Integrated campaigns across all platforms (social, email, newsletter)
Consistent messaging over time (leading to familiarity, trust, & brand equity)
Opportunity for content collaboration (takeovers, workshops, guest posts, etc.)
Direct access to me (so I can help you grow your owned distribution)
Since this isn’t my main source of revenue, I can afford to wait for the right partnership.
Even if that means months or years.
I’m not going to throw away the brand equity that I’ve built over the past decade for a partnership that isn’t a fit.
